Accessibility Statement

Accessibility Statement for The Zinc Group

www.thezincgroup.com

This accessibility statement applies to www.thezincgroup.com.

This website is run by The Zinc Group Limited. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using your browser or device settings
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

We provide an on-page accessibility toolbar, WP Accessibility Features, which visitors can use to increase text size, adjust contrast and stop moving content such as image slideshows and carousels. This tool sits alongside, and does not replace, the underlying accessibility of the website itself.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible. Based on our own review, current known issues include:

  • some images and icons do not have meaningful alternative (alt) text, so screen reader users may not get the same information as sighted users
  • the homepage slideshow/carousel and case study slider auto-play by default; visitors can stop this using the WP Accessibility Features toolbar, but there is no native pause control built into the slider itself
  • the animated statistics counters (e.g. “Accounts Managed”, “Client Satisfaction”) rely on visual animation and may not convey the final figures correctly to screen readers
  • some embedded documents (for example our Sustainability Report and Modern Slavery Statement) are provided as PDFs which may not be fully accessible to screen reader users
  • some heading levels on content pages do not follow a strict, logical sequence, which can make navigation harder for screen reader users
  • some colour contrast between text and background may not meet the minimum ratio required on certain page elements, even with the toolbar’s contrast adjustment applied
  • the cookie consent banner and “Manage consent” panel may not be fully operable by keyboard or announce clearly to assistive technology
  • some interactive elements (case study sliders, video play/pause controls) may not have accessible names or be fully operable by keyboard alone

The WP Accessibility Features toolbar helps mitigate some of these issues — in particular text sizing, contrast and stopping moving content — but it is a supplementary tool rather than a fix for the underlying issues, and does not address items such as missing alt text, PDF accessibility or heading structure.

The Zinc Group Limited is a private company and this website is not a public sector website, so it does not fall within the scope of the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018, and there is no statutory enforcement body (such as the Equality Advisory and Support Service) for this statement.

We are, however, committed to making our website accessible in line with our obligations under the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments for disabled customers, and in support of our Consumer Duty obligations to identify and support customers in vulnerable circumstances. Technical information about this website’s accessibility

The Zinc Group is committed to making its website accessible, in line with our voluntary commitment to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard.

Compliance status

This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. Partially conformant means some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard, as set out in the “How accessible this website is” section above.

Accessibility tools available on this site

In addition to the underlying website code, we provide the WP Accessibility Features toolbar to visitors, which offers:

  • adjustable text size and contrast settings
  • a control to stop moving, auto-playing content such as slideshows and carousels
  • other visitor-facing display adjustments to support easier reading

This toolbar is a visitor-controlled aid and is provided in addition to, not instead of, our ongoing work to fix accessibility issues in the site’s underlying code and content.

Preparing this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on July 2026. It was last reviewed on July 2026.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

Our plan is to:

  • commission a full WCAG 2.2 AA audit (automated and manual, including screen reader testing) of the live site
  • add meaningful alt text to all informational images, and empty alt attributes to purely decorative images
  • add native pause/stop controls to the slideshow and case study slider, and provide an accessible alternative to the animated statistics counters
  • provide accessible HTML or tagged-PDF alternatives for key documents (Sustainability Report, Modern Slavery Statement, policies)
  • review and correct heading structure across all pages
  • review colour contrast against WCAG 2.2 AA thresholds and adjust the design system where needed
  • review the cookie consent banner for full keyboard operability and correct ARIA labelling
  • continue to review the configuration of the WP Accessibility Features toolbar to ensure it complements, rather than substitutes for, underlying fixes
  • re-test after each round of fixes and update this statement accordingly

This statement will be reviewed and updated as improvements are made.
